The first three downhill runs of the Alpine Ski World Cup season resulted in three Swiss doubles, with three different winners and four athletes involved, who occupy the first four places in the general classification of the specialty.
This is not the least of the current exploits of Swiss skiing, and it suggests great things for the Lauberhorn speed events: a super-G on Friday (12:30 p.m.) and a descent on Saturday (12:30 p.m.). It’s quickly seen: of the nine athletes called to participate in the week’s training, only two have never been on a World Cup podium, Marco Kohler and Lars Rösti. Everyone else could climb onto the box that it wouldn’t be a big surprise.
