Around twenty artists announce their participation in “FireAid”, an evening organized on January 30 to raise funds for disaster victims.

“The activism of my community is truly inspiring. I am so grateful to be able to contribute in my own way,” writes singer Katy Perry, herself a California native.

They mobilize with their best weapon. Their voice. Around twenty artists invite Americans to “join for an evening of music and solidarity” during a benefit concert given in favor of the reconstruction of Los Angeles, devastated for more than a week by fires which killed at least 24 people and destroyed more than 12,000 buildings. See you on January 30 in the rooms of the Intuit Dome and the Kia Forum where the FireAid will take place.

Herself originally from California, she will be in the week before for the Yellow Pieces Gala. Also announced are Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas, Lady Gaga, Pink, Sting, the new pop sensation Gracie Abrams and the groups Earth, Wind and Fire and Green Day. Other artists are expected to complete this already impressive list in the coming days.

Distressed, Hilton raised nearly a million dollars

The official website of the event, (new window) which also collects donations, indicates that the amounts collected “will serve short-term relief efforts and long-term initiatives aimed at preventing future wildfire disasters throughout Southern California.” The funds will be managed by the Annenberg Foundation, one of the major players in philanthropy across the Atlantic. Installed in numbers in Los Angeles (new window)celebrities are at the forefront of the chain of solidarity which has quickly been put in place.

In a city where the air has become unbreathable, Hollywood has shut down its activities and many artists have postponed the launch of their future projects, like Beyoncé and The Weeknd, out of respect for the victims.
