2024 will have been a record year for Luxembourg Railways trains. With 31.3 million travelers supported, the company saw its attendance accelerate by 10% in one year.
In December, the airport Find reached the 5 million travelers welcomed (unheard of). Now it’s the CFL’s turn to celebrate an incredible year. Thus, the bar of 30 million transported customers has been exceeded, and that of 31 million also for that matter… In fact, the 2024 report speaks of 31.3 million customers welcomed on board Luxembourg trains. Either a jump of 3 million additional people displaced in one year…
There is therefore no doubt: the transition to free public transport in the Grand Duchy, the modal shift between cars, buses and trains ease, taking into account user comments or the commissioning of new trains are a winning bet. And it’s probably not over yet…
Indeed, the effort in investments in rolling stock and tracks is far from being on a siding. On the contrary, the State and the Luxembourg Railways want to continue to equip themselves, secure the network, and offer more comfort on board.
And there is no question for Marc Wengler, general director of the CFL, of denying his pleasure in the face of the passenger record: “ The constant increase in attendance on our trains (apart from the period of the Covid crisis) is the greatest reward for the daily dedication of our more than 5,000 employees and collaborators ».
A success on the rail which also translates positively in terms ofemployer image. Thus, the CFL is not content with being the “biggest boss” in the country; they are also the first recruiter (500 hires announced for 2025!) and one of the companies most attracting the “curiosity” of job candidates.
In terms of satisfaction, the CFL also notes that each of the lines has seen its appeal increase over the last twelve months. This is more particularly for the line linking Luxembourg to Trier (which recorded 18% more passengers than in 2023).
It’s not surprising then that Marc Wengler continues on the path to satisfaction: “ More than ever, we want to remain the 1st choice of mobility of our clients and clients. And to conclude by recalling that the train remained “one of the most common modes of travel less polluting and completely aligned with the challenges of our time “. What could possibly convince future users? We will see this at the end of December 2025 now…
