Tennis – Australian Open 2025 : Pavlyuchenkova beat Siegemund

Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, seeded No. 27, was the first player to qualify for the second week of the 2025 Australian Open, on the night of Thursday to Friday. She dominated the German Laura Siegemund without being worried by the score (6-1, 6-2) and thus took advantage of the opening created in this part of the table by the elimination of the 2024 finalist, Qinwen Zheng.

After two tighter rounds against the Chinese Yue Yuan (6-4, 4-6, 6-3), and against Anastasia Potapova (7-6 [2]2-6, 6-2), Pavlyuchenkova this time proposed a much more authoritarian copy. At 33, she returns to the third round of the Australian Open for the first time since 2022.

Pavlyuchenkova, ranked 32nd on the WTA, will face the winner of the match between No. 12 seed Diana Shnaider of Russia and No. 18 seed Donna Vekic of Croatia in the Grand Slam round of 16 Australian.
