Neymar revealed intriguing details about his time at PSG and Barcelona, while discussing the future of his career in an interview with Romário on the former striker’s YouTube channel. Among the revelations, the current Al-Hilal player addressed his relationship with Mbappé, with whom he reportedly had disagreements during his time at the Parisian club.
“Mbappé is not boring; I have my business with him. We had a little quiche. He was a crucial player for me at the start. I called him ‘Golden Boy’, I laughed, I helped him and I talked with him; he came to my house. We have had great years of partnership. However, with the arrival of Messi, I think he became a little jealous. He didn’t want to share me with anyone. Then the arguments started,” Neymar explained.
According to the Brazilian, PSG suffered from personal conflicts within the team. “The ego was present in almost everyone. It won’t work if no one runs and helps each other; it’s impossible to win anything,” he said, reflecting on his six years in French football from 2017 to 2023, during which he failed to achieve the club’s main goal: Champions League title.

But I had these injuries, and they hurt me. Obviously every player wants to win the Ballon d’Or, but it’s not something that will ruin my life. »
-“During my last week at Barcelona, Messi asked me: ‘Why are you leaving? Do you want to be the best in the world? I’ll make you the best in the world.’ But that wasn’t it; there were other personal reasons. Of course, financially it was much better than in Barcelona. And there were also the Brazilians playing there—Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Dani Alves, Lucas; all were my friends. »

Regarding his future, the striker remained undecided when asked whether he would prefer to return to Brazil to defend Santos, his former club, or Flamengo. Recently, his name has also been mentioned for a transfer to the United States. “It’s a question of emotion or reason. I have always talked about Flamengo; I always wanted to play for Flamengo. For everything Flamengo represents. And Santos is childhood sweetheart; it’s my home. »
