Linked to a departure from Arab football, where he currently plays with Al-Hilal, Neymar could not be registered for the national championship. This was stated by the team’s coach, Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus, during a press conference on Thursday. The former Flamengo coach says the Brazilian star is struggling to keep up with the rest of the squad.

“It’s not easy. He (Neymar) is coming back from an injury that kept him out of the competition. Just when he was almost back, he got injured again. He’s a player who leaves no one indifferent, a world-class talent But the truth is that physically he could not keep up with the pace of the team,” Jesus said.

Neymar spent a year and four days off the field following knee surgery and returned to action last October. A little over two weeks later, he suffered another injury, this time to his thigh, which kept him off the field for almost two months. Neymar’s contract with Al-Hilal runs until June 2025, and he can be registered for the Arab Championship until January 31.
