A year 2024 full of events for Sommelonne, yesterday and today

On January 10, the Sommelonne, yesterday and today association held its second annual general meeting. Officially created on 1is September 2022, the association actually started in 2019 with a first exhibition.

“You have all allowed the association to experience a year 2024 rich in events”, declared, in the introduction, the president, Françoise Eliot, in particular a poetry evening, “Lichouseries et Balivernes”, two residency outings, an after- lunchtime games with Ludo’sphère. The exhibition “Sommelonne during the wars”, on March 23 and 24, was the highlight of the year 2024. The president thanked again the historians who contributed to the exhibition: Jean-Pierre Harbulot, Meuse specialist of the Second World War, Joël Ecuvillon and Lionel , from the Mémoires 52 club, Brice Perrin, from the association The Americans of Gondrecourt, Yvan Vannerot, who was until a few months ago, president of the Connaissance d’Ancerville association, and Patrice Riehl, who authorized the reproduction of his photos.

For those who would like to see it or see it again, the exhibition can be viewed online at Calameo “Sommelonne during the wars”.

The president thanked the municipality for its support and help. She also renewed her thanks to the intervillage concerts for their check for €500.

Chantal Picard, treasurer, presented a balanced financial account, with few movements, apart from association comprehensive insurance and some drinks receipts.

After giving discharge to the treasurer for the management of her accounts, the board of directors proceeded to the statutory votes. Jean-Louis Rodriguez, outgoing member, having chosen to represent himself, was re-elected and, in the office, without any contrary vote, Françoise Eliot, remains president, Laurence Cozette, secretary and Chantal Picard, treasurer.

Protests in 2025

The events for this year have been presented. A games evening is planned for a Friday evening for the first time, on November 14 or 28, depending on the date chosen for Documentary Film Month. With the Calvinothèque, the association will participate in Reading Nights on January 24, of which heritage is the theme this year. An evening like in the past where everything will be shared, the soup and desserts forgotten by our grandmothers, the readings and memories of yesteryear. On September 20 and 21, as part of Heritage Days, the church will be open to visitors and there will be an exhibition on its history, with a presentation of remarkable tombs from its cemetery, for which the association is also making call on those who could help him with their knowledge. In 2026, a new exhibition on disappeared businesses will be scheduled for February 28 and 1is mars.

Other events could still be planned, such as residency outings with the Azimuts/Le Couac company, and perhaps a tavern evening with the Quinzaine, which will of course depend on the requests of the other Meuse municipalities.
