“I quickly saw that she was not her usual self.” Bella, a 6-month-old Yorkie, undoubtedly saved the life of a septuagenarian. The facts occurred Wednesday morning in Sanvignes-les-Mines, a town in Saône-et- located about fifty kilometers west of Chalon-sur-Saône, then plunged into the cold under thick fog.

“I had just opened the door for her to take her little walk outside,” explains Robert, her master, to Journal of Saône-et-Loire. If the dog can’t bark, she knew how to make herself understood. “She was looking at me and crying a little and her ears kept going up and then down. »

Lying on the frozen ground for an hour

As Robert approached, he discovered his 75-year-old neighbor lying on the icy ground on the other side of the low wall separating the two gardens. “She had been there in the cold for an hour.” the lady had slipped while going to get her mail and, unable to get up, could have remained lying for a long time in sub-zero temperatures which could have been fatal to her.

The victim was finally able to be picked up and brought back to warmth. Luckily, she did not suffer from any complications. An outcome which would undoubtedly have been quite different without the intervention of the little dog…
