Jannik Sinner dream of making a double Melbourne. Jostled but convincing in the first round against Nicolas Jarrythe Italian had started his season well. This Thursday, against the local Tristan Schoolkate, the Italian was pushed around for a round and a half before coming through and winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-3. Uninspired, the Transalpine seemed lacking in sensations but showed maturity and patience to crack the 173rd in the world, brilliant in the first round. Without being brilliant, Sinner still continue to advance and will be able to gain strength against Marcos Giron.

“He produced a higher level of Tennis than me for an hour”
“I felt he played very good tennis, especially in the first set”explained Sinner at a press conference. “For a set and a half, he served much better than me. He played fantastic tennis. I didn’t know him as a player, so it was difficult for me. He produced a higher level of tennis than me for an hour, so it was a tough match to overturn. I’m happy with how I handled this situation. Obviously I can improve for the next matches, but I’m happy to have progressed, it was a difficult match.”
Sinner on Darren Cahill: ‘There’s still a lot to do and I don’t want to talk too much about his retirement’
After its success, Sinner announced on the microphone ofEurosport Italia that this was his last season with Darren Cahill, arrived in his team in 2022. At a press conference, the Italian revealed the reason. “Darren has given me a lot of things. A year is a very long time, there is still a lot to do and I don’t want to talk too much about retirement. I feel very, very lucky and very happy to be his last player on the tour.
