Gaza: Netanyahu thanks Trump for hostage release deal
Benjamin Netanyahu thanked US President-elect Donald Trump by telephone on Wednesday for having obtained the agreement to release the hostages held in the Gaza Strip and thus putting an “end to the suffering of dozens of hostages and their families”, reported the services of the Israeli Prime Minister.
Negotiators meeting in Qatar sealed during the day an agreement intended to end in stages the war between Israel and Hamas which has been raging for fifteen months in the Palestinian enclave. The Qatari Prime Minister clarified that the ceasefire would come into force on January 19.
Benjamin Netanyahu also spoke with outgoing US President Joe Biden, whom he thanked for his help in reaching the agreement, the Israeli leader’s office also said.
During the telephone exchange with Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to go to Washington soon for a meeting, it was added in a press release.
