Early-bird fans of the National Hockey League (NHL) will be served Wednesday evening with a confrontation between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Buffalo Sabers which will begin an hour earlier than usual.

This meeting will be of capital importance for the Sabres, who are trying to hang on to the playoff race in the Eastern Association. With 37 points, they are 11 points behind the last place allowing them to qualify for the spring tournament.

For their part, the Hurricanes are the same power as in recent seasons. Rod Brind’amour’s men occupy third place in the Metropolitan section, two points behind the New Jersey Devils and second place.
Once again this year, the “Canes” are known for directing a lot of shots towards the opposing net. With an average of 31.8 shots per game, they find themselves second in the NHL in this regard behind the Edmonton Oilers.
Defensively, it’s the same thing. They are one of the teams that concede the fewest shots on average per game with 25.
