Early-bird fans of the National Hockey League (NHL) will be served Wednesday evening with a confrontation between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Buffalo Sabers which will begin an hour earlier than usual.

This meeting will be of capital importance for the Sabres, who are trying to hang on to the playoff race in the Eastern Association. With 37 points, they are 11 points behind the last place allowing them to qualify for the spring tournament.
