Explosion in an arsenal in Cuba: 13 soldiers dead
“It is officially declared that the 13 comrades have died,” said the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (Minfar) in a statement published in the state daily Granma.
The explosion occurred on January 7 in Melones, 730 km east of Havana and led to the evacuation of more than 1,200 residents in the surrounding area.
The 13 soldiers – nine soldiers, two non-commissioned officers and two officers – were initially reported missing.
