A little less than a year after the death of her father Alain Dorval, French voice of Sylvester Stallone in the cinema, Aurore Bergé cuts short false rumors which implicate her.
In February 2024, Aurore Bergé’s father died. It was the actor Alain Dorval, the French voice of Sylvester Stallone. A little less than a year later, the start-up ElevenLabs unveiled on X (formerly Twitter) on January 10 the trailer for the new film by the American actor Armor which will be released on Prime Video. A film that the minister’s father did not have time to dub. However, we hear the voice of the French dubber recreated by artificial intelligence. Criticism then arose, due to the mechanical side of the dubbing. Some have deplored the practice of replacing actors with AI and others have gone so far as to criticize Aurore Bergé for taking a financial advantage from it. ElevenLabs had indicated that there was an agreement with Alain Dorval’s family. But in the face of the controversy which has gained momentum by being relayed in particular by Varietythe voice actor’s daughter wanted to make things clear.
“I gave my agreement for a test. only a test. An agreement strictly guaranteeing me that my mother and I would be in final validation before any use/publication. And that nothing could be done without our agreement. (… ) I have never validated such a broadcast”corrected Aurore Bergé on X. “Dubbing with an actor has been carried out for several months. There is therefore no replacement of an actor by AI”added with CheckNews of Liberation the Minister Delegate for Equality between Women and Men. According to her, “no commercial release was ever planned with his father’s voice and “use of AI”. The site specializing in fact-checking contacted Prime Video which indicates the VF of Sylvester Stallone in Armor was recorded by Michel Vigné. Known for dubbing Mickey Rourke, the actor had already lent his voice to Sylvester Stallone in the film High Security.

“No commercial vocation” : Aurore Bergé puts an end to the rumor around her deceased father
“A French dub already exists with another actor, but recreating Alain Dorval’s voice is a tribute to his long-standing role as the voice of Stallone”indicated the companies ElevenLabs and Lumiere Ventures in a joint press release unveiled by CheckNews this Tuesday, January 14. A text indicating that “the family joined forces with the filmmakers for free”. But companies seem to want to go through with this experience of Alain Dorval’s voice mixed with AI. “We have agreed that if the quality bar is not met, the film will be released with traditional dubbing – the family retains full control and will decide if and how this AI dubbing is used”they indicate. But, that was without counting on Aurore Bergé who answered them with a definitive no (for this film at least). “They wrote in black and white that no commercial vocation existed. So the film will be released with an actor for dubbing,” indicated to CheckNews the actor’s daughter who recalls that her father was committed to the CFDT in favor of the rights of performing artists.
