What did you think of Fonseca’s victory over Rublev?
I met him for the first time five minutes before walking into that interview room and I congratulated him. Not only for his victory, but also for everything he has done over the last six to twelve months. I’ve followed his rise and I love the way he plays big points. He is courageous, he hits very cleanly, he is a complete player. It’s an exciting time for Brazil, but also for the whole tennis world, because it’s impressive that such a young player is able to play so well in a big tournament… I’m a fan of his game. I observed him last year. In one of my interviews for the ATP, I said that I saw a little of my game in his, especially when I was his age (18 ans)when you are a little careless in your shots, wanting to show just what you are capable of. »
