“I'm not crazy or stupid”: after the broadcast of the report on the fake Brad Pitt, the defrauded victim Anne reacts

“In this report the only thing we will remember is Anne fell in love with a fake Brad Pitt”. His story made noise on social networks and went around the world. Victim of a scammer, specializing in romantic scams, Anne found herself in a downward spiral and was extorted no less than 830.000 euros.

As a reminder, claiming to need money to pay for an operation for kidney cancer, the fake Brad Pitt managed to extract large sums from this woman, who is today ruined and did three suicide attempts.

While she wanted to testify openly in a report, everything did not go as planned… Victim of mockery and criticism towards him Anne quickly became the laughingstock of social networks where his story was repeated in vulgar photomontages and was the target of several comedians.

This Tuesday, January 14, she wanted to speak to give her version of the story and deplores in particular the lack of details and the spin given by the journalist at the origin of this report.

“I no longer have a roof over my head”

“I wanted to help someone but I was fooled, I admit it. That’s why I wanted to testify”Anne, disappointed with the report, wanted to put some context into her story which completely turned her life upside down.

“I no longer have a roof over my head, my life is a 6m2 box with a few boxes inside, that’s what I have left,” says the fifty-year-old, now ruined after her scam.

“The journalist only retained what should not be retained to tarnish my image and with the aim of attracting an audience”she maintains.

“I doubted so many times”

“I'm a decent woman. If someone comes and talks nicely to you in words you've never heard from your own husband, well yes we fall for it. I wanted to put an end to the crook, but every time When I took him out through the door, he came in through another window.”. A story different from what is present in the image according to Anne and which reminds us that lots of people find themselves in her situation.

“I doubted so many times deep down”Anne specifies that the blame was placed on her when the fake doctor spoke to her about the alleged state of health of the person with whom she was speaking. A situation that affected her, she who was really affected by the disease during her life.

“You cannot speak and judge how I fell for this scam” she says.

TF1 retire son reportage

For its part, the channel which broadcasts the program seven to eight in which Anne recounted her misadventure, took the step of withdrawing the report. The show announced on Tuesday January 14 that it had removed from all its platforms a report on a woman defrauded by a fake Brad Pitt and victim of cyber-harassment since the subject was broadcast on Sunday.

“The report broadcast this Sunday [12 janvier 2025] sparked a wave of harassment against a witness. For the protection of victims, we have decided to remove it from our platforms”writes the show presented by Harry Roselmack on his X account.

The case reached the United States

Many Brad Pitt fans have come across this testimony. The American actor's spokesperson even took up the story, sharing his desolation at a scam of such magnitude against the Frenchwoman.

“Scammers are taking advantage of the strong bond that fans have with celebrities,” he said.
