FLACHAU – After a good comeback, Camille Rast wins the slalom, Zrinka Ljutic out of the race

There is ultimately no new winner in women’s slalom this season. In the absence of Mikaela Shiffrin and with the elimination of Zrinka Ljutic in the first round, it was the Swiss Camille Rast who went for victory in Flachau this Tuesday, even if she had only set the eighth time in the first lap, 1 second 50 behind the best time of the Austrian Katharina Liensberger.

On a particularly delicate second track which quickly deteriorated, the Swiss seemed to fly on track, setting the second time of the round and seeing her rivals struggle in vain to beat her mark. Liensberger finally 4th, Rast is accompanied on the podium by her compatriot Wendy Holdener (+0″16) and the Swede Sara Hector (+0″38).

She thus signs her second career victory after her success at Killington this year. She takes the red bib as leader of the specialty. On the French side, Clarisse Breche takes an encouraging 14th place (1″95), Caitlin McFarlane is 22nd (+2″49).
