Michelle Gisin will have one last dance on Tuesday between the slalom poles. The Obwalden announced it this afternoon on social networks. “I’m really happy with what I accomplished in this discipline,” said the skier who was still one of the rare athletes to take part in practically all the races on the circuit. “I will now focus my energy on the other three disciplines for the rest of my career. »

It’s no surprise to see Michelle Gisin abandon one of the technical disciplines where she seems less efficient this season than in previous ones. She had already told us at Beaver Creek her intention to scale back her crazy schedule and make choices to perform as well as possible in downhill and super-G. However, we perhaps thought that she was going to put the giant aside, to favor slalom, a discipline where she was coming off her best winter with a 4th place finish last season.

It was in slalom that Michelle Gisin made her World Cup debut in Semmering in December 2012. Two weeks later, she made her first splash by finishing 9th in the slalom of… Flachau, for her third appearance in the ‘elite. In all, the double Olympic combined champion will have made 103 slalom starts on the Cirque Blanc, for 45 top 10s, 9 podiums and a fantastic victory, where it all began, in Semmering in 2020.
