Fire in progress at Bernard-Gariépy secondary school

A fire has been raging at Bernard-Gariépy secondary school since 10:30 a.m. this morning.
A general alert is currently in progress and dozens of firefighters are currently fighting the flames which appear to have started in the roof. A thick black smoke escapes from the attic. Renovations currently taking place at this school could be the cause of this fire.
“All the students were evacuated and relocated to the Cégep de Sorel-Tracy. We are currently taking attendance,” explains the school director, Patrick Lamothe, met on site.
“We are asking parents not to come to school or CEGEP for the moment in order to facilitate the operation. Rest assured that the safety of our students and staff members is our priority,” writes the Sorel-Tracy School Service Center in a Facebook post.
