The head of Russian diplomacy, Sergei Lavrov affirmed that the agreement, like the recent pact between Russia and North Korea, is of a constructive nature.

“It is designed to strengthen the capabilities of Russia, Iran and our global allies,” he reiterated.

Lavrov also explained that the agreement aims to accelerate economic exchanges, address bilateral social challenges and establish reliable defense mechanisms.

“This agreement reflects a commitment to mutual growth and enhanced collaboration, benefiting both nations and their allies globally,” he added.

The agreement will be signed during Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian’s next visit to Moscow.

The two leaders will meet to discuss “prospects for future expansion of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, transportation, logistics and culture, as well as regional and international issues of ‘news’ and sign the comprehensive strategic partnership pact, according to the Kremlin.

Earlier, Moscow-based Iranian Ambassador Kazem Jalali said preserving Iran’s territorial integrity and independence was a priority while drafting the deal and added that the agreement consists of an introduction and 47 articles.
