The Chinese manufacturer Zeekr is making headlines again with the announcement of a new model: the Zeekr 7GT, a Shooting Brake version of the Zeekr 007 electric sedan. Revealed via social networks, the first images of this car with sharp lines have already aroused enthusiasm, in particular thanks to its attractive design and its promising performance. By tackling the still little-explored market for high-end electric station wagons, Zeekr intends to compete with European and American behemoths like Tesla or BMW.
Zeekr 7GT release date
Despite many advantages, Zeekr’s arrival on the European market remains uncertain. Indeed, the recent increase in customs duties imposed on Chinese manufacturers not producing in Europe has considerably slowed down the ambitions of several brands, including Zeekr. However, the manufacturer does not seem ready to give up on the idea of conquering Europe, as evidenced by the recent launch of its Zeekr 7X SUV in certain European countries.
If the Zeekr 7GT succeeds in setting up its wheels in Europe, it could well find its audience. Between its sophisticated look, its performance worthy of the best premium models and its competitive price, this Chinese electric has serious arguments to attract customers tired of the eternal SUV.
Zeekr 7GT: a muscular Shooting Brake for demanding families
The Zeekr 7GT immediately stands out as an atypical model in the electric automobile landscape. With its low, slender silhouette inspired by Shooting Brakes, it combines the elegance of a coupe with the versatility of an estate. Designed for those looking for both style and practicality, this new version should appeal to families who refuse to sacrifice performance for the sake of space.
Technically, the Zeekr 7GT is based on the same platform as the 007 sedan, called SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture). It should therefore offer high-performance battery options, including a 75 kWh battery and another 100 kWh, allowing a range of up to 870 km according to the Chinese CLTC cycle (evaluates the range and consumption of cars, but according to Chinese standards). If these figures are slightly lower in the WLTP cycle (international standard which measures autonomy and consumption), they still remain very competitive compared to European rivals.
Performance of the Zeekr 7GT
Under the hood, the Zeekr 7GT has nothing to envy of sports cars. Entry-level versions will be powered by a 421-horsepower rear motor, while higher-end versions will offer all-wheel drive through the addition of a front motor, for a combined output of 646 horsepower and torque of 710 Nm. Enough to compete with the best electric cars on the market.
