Charlie Dalin achieved an authentic feat in the 2024 Vendée Globe. He won the legendary solo sailing race by beating the event record.

Tuesday January 14, as the sun rises over Les Sables-d’Olonne (Vendée), a silhouette appears on a boat. Charlie Dalin has just won his first Vendée Globe. This moment of joy is shared with the cohort of boats who came to celebrate his feat. “It was madness, this finish line with the daylight starting to break through”says the navigator, all smiles.

The 40-year-old from took his revenge after his second place during the previous edition of the Vendée Globe. And he does it in style by smashing the record for the nine-day race. It took him 64 days, 19 hours and 22 minutes to sail solo around the world. From the ground, spectators salute this high-flying performance. They are eagerly waiting to see the winner return to Les Sables-d’Olonne at the start of the afternoon.
