Why is it important to celebrate this 270th anniversary?
According to Christian Selmoni, Director of Style & Heritage: since the beginning of the century, Vacheron Constantin has seen each anniversary decade as an opportunity to tell its story and the values transmitted over time.
These significant dates pay tribute to a philosophy which continually combines mechanical research and innovation with artisanal professions, in a stylistic approach that is both visionary and respectful of traditions.
While talking about the house’s impressive legacy is one thing, bringing it to life is another.
Each of these commemorations is punctuated by watches which illustrate the values cultivated within the manufacture since 1755.
For example, for our 250th anniversary, let us cite the creation of the Tour de l’Île, comprising 16 complications – which represents an unprecedented feat.
The following decade, the Reference 57260 took center stage with its 57 functions, making it the most complicated watch ever made.
Alexandra Vogler, CMO of Vacheron Constantin adds: “in 2025, this 270th anniversary reserves a fine range of surprises and expressions of watchmaking know-how, worthy of appearing alongside previous commemorative pieces.
Why start this anniversary with a reissue of the 222?
For Alexandra Vogler: “considered one of the most recognizable models of recent decades due to its distinctive design, the 222 is a legendary watch widely appreciated by collectors, particularly because its initial production in the late 1970s is extremely limited.
In 2022 (a symbolic year from a digital point of view), the house presents a yellow gold edition. In 2025, this new Jumbo steel version appears as a logical continuation.
Between heritage and modernity, it opens the 270th anniversary of the house which once again combines the past and the present. This introduction will continue with the launch of new models throughout our anniversary year.
Do the 270 years of the house, which we could consider as the very history of the art of watchmaking, imply a form of responsibility?
According to Christian Selmoni: “to follow in the footsteps of Vacheron Constantin’s past is to look at watchmaking history in its entirety.
As one of the oldest watchmaking houses still in operation, we undoubtedly have a more important duty to remember, which is perfectly understood and completely integrated into our house since 1755.
It is therefore up to us to preserve and perpetuate this history for future generations.

As such, our archives include numerous detailed written and photographic documents which bear witness to the manufacture’s production over the centuries and its history in a context of international expansion.
There are also tools and components from yesteryear and a private collection of more than 1,600 timepieces that trace watchmaking styles through the ages.
