It’s the youngsters who are leading the charge lately for the Montreal Canadiens, and Nick Suzuki has proven to everyone that he has the makings of a first-line center player in the National Hockey League.

Since December 17, CH has lost only 3 of its 12 matches. Suzuki continued his superb season by averaging a point per game, and defensively, he held his own against several of the best centers on the planet.

“In recent weeks, he has won his battle against [Aleksander] Barkov, he won it against Brayden Point, he won it against Jack Eichel, he won it against Nathan MacKinnon. The Canadian won those four games, and he has four winning goals in overtime, [ce qui lui vaut le premier rang] tied with Leon Draisaitl,” explained Monday on the show JiC columnist Tony Marinaro.

“More than a point per game… These are number 1 center statistics,” he added.

Thus, the Canadian was able to defeat the four most recent Stanley Cup champions. The Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, Vegas Golden Knights and Tampa Bay Lightning have all tasted the Habs captain’s medicine.

“It’s hard to blame Nick Suzuki for anything at the moment,” admitted host Jean-Charles Lajoie.

With Cole Caufield, Suzuki’s faithful companion in attack who has “more tools in his trunk”, Marinaro even allows himself to dream.

“If the Canadian plays like he played in the last month, anything is possible,” he assured.
