Schjelderup and Cabral turned things around just a minute after Soares opened the score. Bah sealed the victory.
On Tuesday evening, Benfica produced an exceptional turnaround against Farense, winning easily 3-1 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Portuguese Cup, a trophy they last lifted in 2017.
The Eagles entered the field with undeniable strength and energy. Bruno Lage once again opted for Argentine duo Di María and Otamendi, while integrating young talents such as Samuel Soares, Florentino Luís and Andreas Schjelderup, who played a significant role during the League Cup battle against the Sporting de Portugal last Saturday, which ended in a draw (1-1) but with a defeat on penalties 6-7.

While the Eagles seemed to control the game and threatened their opponents, Farense took advantage of a corner and opened the scoring with a header into the bottom left corner from Soares (1-0). The Algarve team looked comfortable in their defensive set-up, while Benfica struggled to create clear chances in response to this deficit.
However, the half proved crucial in re-energizing Benfica’s somewhat numb game. In the 56th minute, Schjelderup gave the Reds hope, and just a minute later they reversed the trend with another goal from Brazilian Arthur Cabral (1-2). In a varnish of goals, Danish striker Bah added the third goal in the 62nd minute, cementing an epic comeback at the São Luis Stadium in Faro.
With one eye on Braga’s clash with Lusitano 1911 d’Évora on Wednesday, Benfica are waiting to find out who their quarter-final opponent will be on February 5.
