Franco-Swiss actor Cyril Metzger, 30, wins the 2025 “Swissperform” Prize for best leading role in a television production. The prize was awarded to him for his interpretation of hotelier André Morel in the series “Winter Palace”.
In his interpretation in the historical series, “Cyril Metzger succeeds in the difficult balancing act between the gentle charmer and the businessman,” wrote the jury in a press release published Tuesday. The prize will be presented to him during the 60th Solothurn Days at the end of January.
The “Winter Palace” series takes place in the early 19th century in the Swiss Alps. In the role of hotelier André Morel, Cyril Metzger wants to promote winter tourism and keep his five-star establishment open all season. But many obstacles stand in his way. The series is the first SSR and Netflix co-production, broadcast since the end of December on RTS and Play Suisse.
Liechtenstein actress Sarah Viktoria Frick won the “Swissperform” Prize for best supporting role. She plays the twins Nicole Merz and Aline Kaiser one after the other in the German-speaking detective series “Tatort – Von Affen und Menschen”.
The price of succession to a Genevan
The prize for the next generation of the “Swissperform” Prize is awarded to Isaline Prévost Radeff from Geneva. In the series “On the High Seas” by Denis Rabaglia, she plays Julia Morand, a small key role. The series is based on the novel “In Salt Water” by Fabien Feissli, a dark story of murder on a cargo ship.
Solothurn actress Sophie Hutter won the jury prize for her role as Sarah Wyss, a peasant’s daughter, in the series “Neumatt”. Sophie Hutter evolves her character very naturally: “She went from an angry young woman to a thoughtful businesswoman. We are deeply touched by her inner and outer conflicts and we struggle with her,” explains the jury.
The “Swissperform” drama prizes for outstanding performances in television productions will be awarded during the Solothurn Film Days on January 26. They are endowed with 10,000 francs each.
The prices are offered by the Swiss cultural foundation for audiovisual in Switzerland. “Swissperform” is a neighboring rights management company in Switzerland. It notably negotiates the prices of secondary rights for actors and actresses and ensures that the income is duly collected and distributed among the rights holders in the audiovisual sector.
