Guardiola’s Frustration With Autograph Seekers Goes Viral: ‘I Won’t Sign Anymore’

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expressed his frustration when a group of fans blocked his path in a parking garage, demanding autographs. Despite a string of winning results, the Catalan coach confronted the ‘autograph hunters’, advising the younger ones among them to concentrate on their studies instead of chasing his signature.

This group is part of a wider movement seen across European football, where individuals are seeking to obtain autographs for resale. Guardiola, referring to a few familiar faces in the crowd, made it clear he no longer wished to meet them.
“I won’t sign anymore. Go to school. You, look at you… you’re old. You younger people, don’t waste your time. Is this how you want to live your life?” Guardiola said.

A man, identifying himself as a chef, responded by calling Guardiola “an ancient”. In response, Pep suggested he should “do better”.
Contrary to past reactions, many social media users supported Guardiola’s stance. Some pointed out the content of the video, criticizing the behavior of these so-called fans.
“It’s not wrong. People have understood that some people don’t even support the team and yet are out there every day asking for autographs, just to take advantage of the jersey sales and make easy money ‘. They are literally using the guy,’ commented influencer Renato Vicente, who supports Vasco.

On the other hand, some users expressed discomfort regarding Guardiola’s tone and attitude. “Too rude, what he has in talent he lacks in manners,” said one Cruzeiro fan.
“He may be right, but his approach was wrong. Very annoying for these kids just there for the love of the game,” added another.

Although some tried to justify Guardiola’s irritation, explaining that these individuals were not real fans, but opportunists invading his space in the garage, others noted his recent history of confrontations with fans.
In December, after a defeat to a rival, a man recorded an encounter with Guardiola at Liverpool, taunting him by saying: “It’s just because you lost.” Guardiola responded irritably, needing to be restrained: “Do you know what it’s like to lose? Do you want to see?”
