Lake effect snow squalls are expected to develop this afternoon.
Heavy snow in places, with a total accumulation of 30 to 40 cm. Maximum accumulation rate of 3 to 5 cm of snow per hour. Reduced visibility at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. From this afternoon until Tuesday afternoon.
Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
Lake effect snow squalls from Lake Superior are expected this evening and overnight.
Snow at times heavy, with a total accumulation of 15 to 20 cm. Reduced visibility in heavy snowfall and blowing snow, particularly in open areas. Tonight until early Tuesday morning.
I-81 from the border to Syracuse:
Heavy snow, with 30 to 60 cm expected in the most affected areas. From 4 p.m. today to 1 p.m. Wednesday. The worst conditions will be Tuesday morning and evening. Reduced visibility and snow covered roads, making travel very difficult.
-I-90 from Rochester to Cleveland (Buffalo area):
A snow shower this morning will hit Buffalo. An expected 3 to 13 cm of snow is expected. Wind gusts up to 56 km/h could cause accumulations of windblown snow. Effective now until 4 a.m. Tuesday. Slippery roads and low visibility, especially south of Buffalo.
Vermont and northern New York:
Snow squalls accompanied by winds today, with rapid accumulation of up to 2 cm. Risk of sudden frost between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the Champlain valley. Rapidly changing weather and road conditions. Drive carefully.
I-94, I-96 and I-69 (center and west of Michigan):
Snow caused by lake effect with 5 to 10 cm expected and more locally. Blowing snow could reduce visibility. From 7 p.m. tonight to 1 a.m. Wednesday. Slippery roads and low visibility.
