A 44-year-old sports coach
Initially, the Hyères police station initiated, on Saturday January 4, upon learning of the absence of signs of life of Laurence Guignard, a 44-year-old sports coach, resident of Hyères, an investigation for “worrying disappearance “. Without news of the forty-year-old, her relatives alerted the police.
A call for witnesses, widely relayed on social networks, then indicated a search area between Hyères, Grimaud (where she had slept the day before and had been seen leaving the residence with her gray Dacia Sandero by the guard) and the Gulf of Saint-Tropez where she had already worked.
Contacted by family members, the Assistance and Search for Missing Persons (ARPD) association also provided support on the ground with two volunteers.
A vehicle found almost a week later
Throughout the weekend following the disappearance, the police and gendarmerie services of the sector actively mobilized to find out the route of the missing person after leaving her occasional accommodation, to interview people who had seen her or who had communicated with her in the hours preceding the total break of contacts.
Laurence Guignard’s vehicle was finally able to be spotted by air on Tuesday January 7 by a crew of gendarmes embarked in a helicopter to carry out aerial investigations. The body of the missing woman was found inside her damaged car.
The Dacia Sandero, located below the D98, shortly after La Môle, towards Bormes, was almost invisible from the road which, at this point, is in a straight line.
An investigation into the causes of death
The Toulon public prosecutor’s office has launched a new investigation into the causes of the victim’s death. In this context, an autopsy must be carried out on a date which has not yet been communicated, comments one of his relatives. A whole series of technical and scientific surveys – including the use of his mobile phone, was also carried out.
