Boxing: Tyson Fury announces that he is retiring from the rings

“I’ll keep it short. I would like to announce my retirement from boxing. It was a pleasure. I loved every second,” said the Briton in a short video posted on his Instagram account. World boxing superstar, who went through very dark phases between depression, suicidal thoughts and suspension for doping, Tyson Fury suffered two defeats in a row against Usyk.

Asked in December, after his second defeat against the Ukrainian, whether the public would see him in a ring again, Fury replied: “Maybe, maybe not. Who knows?” At 36, he retired with a record of 34 victories, including 24 by KO, for a draw and two defeats.

However, the Briton has already reversed course several times and his statements should often be taken with a pinch of salt. For example, he announced that he would hang up his gloves after beating Dillian Whyte in April 2022, before finally returning to competition a few months later.
