A scenario written in advance: rising prices, we saw it coming
Do you remember this famous 2-gram miniature component, mentioned recently, which risked causing the price of Android smartphones to explode in 2025? This analysis wasn’t just a bluff. Today, Samsung provides a striking illustration of this with the Galaxy S25.
The culprit? The new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a technological gem that promises breathtaking performance, but at an equally impressive cost. This technological escalation is accompanied by an inflation of production prices, and users inevitably pay the costs.
Samsung had accustomed its customers to a certain price control, but it seems that the era of “accessible” premium smartphones is coming to an end. If you were expecting a moderate evolution for this range, think again. The Galaxy S25s mark a turning point, and it could well make you dizzy.
The prices of the Galaxy S25: the bill will sting
The information leaked on the prices of the Samsung Galaxy S25 confirms fears: each model in the range records a clear increase compared to its predecessors. Here are the planned amounts:
THE Galaxy S25 available in Silver, Navy, Icy Blue and Mint:
- 128 Go : 964,90 €
- 256 Go : 1 026,90 €
- 512 Go : 1 151,90 €
For the Galaxy S25 Plusoffered in the same colors, here are the prices:
- 256 Go : 1 235,90 €
- 512 Go : 1 359,90 €
As for the Galaxy S25 Ultraavailable in Titanium Silver Blue, Titanium Black and Titanium Gray:
-- 256 Go : 1 557,90 €
- 512 Go : 1 681,90 €
- 1 To : 1 930,89 €
Comparing these prices to those of the Galaxy S24 when they were launched, we see an increase of between €60 and more than €100, depending on the model. And that’s not all: these prices are not yet final. Once rounded, not surprisingly, they could climb further. For example, the Galaxy S25 with 128 GB could go from €964.90 to 969 €in the best case scenario.
A significant price jump, but not unexpected. Between the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, even more sophisticated AMOLED screens, and ever more efficient photo sensors, Samsung seems to want to play the card of excellence… at a high price.
This move upmarket suggests an assumed strategy: to attract lovers of cutting-edge technologies and professionals, even if it means sacrificing part of the general public, discouraged by these new prices.
Why such an increase?
In addition to the new chip, other factors explain these high prices:
- Inflation of production costs : Between cutting-edge components and premium materials, the bill goes up.
- Innovation without compromise : Samsung wants to remain the leader in the Android market by offering the best, but quality has a cost.
- Competition with Apple : The Korean brand seems to want to compete directly with the latest iPhones, including on price.
One thing is certain: with the Galaxy S25, Samsung is pushing the limits… and the prices.
