Mahdi Sebti, 43, is appointed president of SKF in France. He replaces Vincent Mégret, who has held this position since 2022, and who spent more than forty years with the Swedish manufacturer of bearing solutions for industry.
A mechanical engineer from Michigan State University and MBA graduate (Wayne State University), Mahdi Sebti has spent his entire career at SKF. He joined the group in 2001, at SKF USA, as an applications and sales engineer, before becoming project manager for the automotive sector four years later. He joined SKF France in 2008 as account manager. In 2008, Mahdi Sebti returned to the United States to supervise activities related to renewable energies and emerging markets.
In 2012, he focused on the development of African markets, holding several general management positions, before taking over as regional director for Africa and general management for the Southern region of the African continent until 2019. Appointed director of the SKF factory from Massa, in Italy, in 2021 he will take over management of the Flowery Branch plant, in Georgia, in the United States, as well as that of the mounted bearings and bearings division for the Americas. In August 2023, he became Industry Sales Director for the Europe North West and Africa regions.
Recent investments in France
At SKF France, Mahdi Sebti will chair a subsidiary located on seven sites, with 3,000 employees, for 1.2 billion euros in turnover. “The diversity of activities of our SKF sites in France is a real asset for achieving our growth and regionalization ambitions, but also for remaining competitive in a very competitive market,” he explains.
The company is located in Montigny-le-Bretonneux (Yvelines), where its headquarters is located, as well as in Valenciennes (North), Lons-le-Saunier (Jura), Chateauneuf-sur-Isère (Drôme), Saint- Cyr-sur-Loire (Indre-et-Loire) and on two units operating in pairs in Eure, in Saint-Marcel and Vernon.
In October 2024, SKF inaugurated, in Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, a new production center specializing in very large bearingsfor an investment of 34 million euros. In Lons-le-Saunier, 27 million euros are for their part spread over four years to increase the factory’s production capacitiesspecialized in the aeronautics market.
