Basketball: Lakers match against Wembanyama Spurs postponed due to Los Angeles fires

The daily lives of Americans are still disrupted by the fires that have affected Los Angeles, the capital of the state of California, since Tuesday. The NBA is no exception to the rule and the American league has decided to postpone the home games of the city’s teams this Saturday: LeBron James’ Lakers and Kawhi Leonard’s Clippers.

The Los Angeles Lakers were supposed to host the San Antonio Spurs and their Frenchman Victor Wembanyama this Saturday evening. The meeting will therefore take place later in the season, like the one scheduled for Thursday against the Charlotte Hornets, postponed for the same reason. The Clippers were also scheduled to host the Hornets this weekend.

Lakers coach evacuated his house

Several members of the NBA are directly impacted by these fires. This is particularly the case of JJ Redick, the coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. Earlier in the week, he confided that his family was among those affected: “Our family, my wife’s family, my wife’s twin sister, were evacuated. I know a lot of people are panicking right now, including my family. »

The mother of Steve Kerr, the coach of the Golden State Warriors and the American team during the Olympic Games, was also evacuated: “Everything I see and read is terrifying about what is happening there, he declared. So I want to send my thoughts to all those who are suffering from the damage of the fire. »
