Next month in March, the unique match will pit América de Cali against Atlético Junior in Barranquilla for the Copa Sudamericana 2025. This meeting has undergone a change, following an announcement made by CONMEBOL this Friday.
South American football’s governing body had already outlined how the matches would take place, with dates confirmed, but surprised fans with new information regarding the clash between América and Atlético Junior this Friday.
It is worth noting that these two teams, América and Atlético Junior, will face each other in the Copa Sudamericana 2025 as two of Colombia’s four representatives in this tournament, in a clash scheduled at the Metropolitano Stadium in Barranquilla.
Initially, the match between América de Cali and Atlético Junior was scheduled for Tuesday March 4; however, CONMEBOL announced a new date on its X account this Friday.
The entity indicated that the match will also take place at the Metropolitano de Barranquilla, but now on Thursday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m.

Under the competition format of the Copa Sudamericana 2025, the first phase sees clubs from the same country compete in a single match, with only one club qualifying for the next round.
Additionally, the Sudamericana will also feature two other Colombian teams, Once Caldas and Millonarios, whose match has also been set.
According to the new CONMEBOL calendar, the match between Once Caldas and Millonarios, which will be held in Manizales at the Palogrande Stadium, will take place on Wednesday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m.
A total of 32 matches will be played in the first phase of the Copa Sudamericana 2025, which will take place between March 3 and 6, 2025.
It is also important to note that Brazilian and Argentinian clubs will not participate in the first round of the Copa Sudamericana 2025, as they have already guaranteed a place in the second phase according to the regulations.
Reigning champions Racing Club d’Avellaneda will return to the 2025 Copa Libertadores after winning that title with Colombian midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero (who is set to leave the Argentinian club to join América de Cali) , meaning a new champion will be crowned in the tournament.
