Sébastien Michiels, Arnaud Natal, Isabelle Guérin and Timothée Narring have authored a paper on household debt in the North and Global South, which CADTM is pleased to publish. The paper looks at the measurement of household debt, the use of credit cards, and the gendered and racial dimensions of debt. It also proposes a reading in terms of social classes.

Timothy Narring
Born in 1992, Timothée Narring is a sociologist and ethnographer at Cessma (University of Paris cite). His research explores the links between debt and the social reproduction of the working classes in Brazil. In 2022, Timothée completed the following thesis: “The embrace of debt. An ethnography of indebtedness in popular circles in Vitoria: within and beyond the favelas of Vitoria (Brazil).
