Sébastien Maquin, manager of Mode 2 vies, came from Vienne, near Poitiers, to settle in Lavaur. “We wanted to change region and were looking for a town with 1 to 15,000 inhabitants where this concept was not in place,” explains the creator of the Mode 2 vies thrift store who was seduced by the living environment.
“My partner and I had targeted several cities. We came for four days in July, we visited, spoke with the traders… We liked it so we decided to simply come here.” Hospital and high school have something to attract candidates, as does the important associative fabric (Lavaur J’adore, the Festival Committee, Agricultural Show, etc.) an actor who is keen to support the city’s businesses.
A Vauréal resident for three years, ceramist Caroline Mesman created the Atelier du Vieux Marché a few months ago: “Lavaur is a choice of the heart. The idea of opening a place of this type has been on my mind since the CoVid and the place is ideal for a workshop.”
In addition to the large space, it can benefit from a place with free parking, as in the entire city. This choice of free parking, with simply blue zones to prevent vehicles from parking too long near shops, is also one of the city’s assets.
The positive image of the economic environment, from town planning to local life through the synergy of different actors, such as politicians or consular chambers, allows the city to stand out in a context morose.
