Australian Open > Emma Raducanu, in full stress: “Yesterday I was seriously bitten by an ant or a mosquito, something I am allergic to. I refused to use a spray because I didn’t want to take risks with a view to an anti-doping control”

Visiting a press conference this Friday two days before the start of the Australian Open, Emma Raducanu, questioned about her report on anti-doping tests, revealed a rather improbable anecdote revealing the state of stress of certain players following to the Sinner and Swiatek cases. Excerpts.

Question : “We talked about it a lot, it’s part of the job, the fight against doping, the controls. Can you talk a little bit about the stress or maybe the worries, if you have any, of knowing exactly what you’re eating all the time?
what do you eat all the time? »

Emma Raducanu : “I would say that we are all probably
sensitive to what we use. Yesterday, for example, I was seriously bitten by I don’t know what, ants, mosquitoes, something like that. Something I’m allergic to, I guess. Someone gave me a natural antiseptic spray to try to soothe the stings. I didn’t want to take it. I didn’t want to spray it. I stood there with my ankle and hand swollen. I told myself that I was going to hold on because I didn’t want to take any risks (laughs). This is obviously a concern for us. We are all in this together. I think it’s just a matter of managing the controllable elements as best as possible. If something uncontrollable happens, it will be difficult to try to prove it. »
