The Salviac choir, Jouez et Chantez, held its general meeting on Tuesday January 7 at the village hall.

Mayor François Dols represented the municipality and reaffirmed his deep attachment to the troupe of choristers who continue to flourish around Rosalind Atherton, the president. We remember that he accompanied the troupe to the interregional festival. The Jouez et chantez choir took up the challenge, and this Sunday, May 5, will remain a memorable date for Rosalind and her choristers. Registering for the Atout choirs festival in Bergerac was a challenge and it took a lot of determination from Rosalind and the office to bring this project to fruition. The Bergerac Popular Secular Education Association brilliantly organized this eleventh festival. An experience that the troupe plans to repeat, but not before 2026.

Anne-Marie Bourgeois, the secretary, then presented the 2024 activity report. The choir gave several concerts in the retirement homes of Salviac and Cazals and went to sing in Gourdon, at the Ehpad Le Mas and L’Ouvroir. On the occasion of the Fête de la Musique, the troupe of choristers was once again welcomed in the garden of Château Lacoste in Salviac. Despite a sudden temporary downpour which could have compromised the progress of the evening, the concert was able to take place in the presence of numerous spectators. The party ended around a drink of friendship and sharing a buffet with different dishes prepared by the singers.

The last major event of 2024 took place during the Christmas market on December 8. Despite the cold that prevailed that day, many Salviacois attended this mini-recital offered in the hall to close the day of jubilation and magic.

Jouez et Chantez now has a brand new, very well laid out site: choraledesalviac.fr/

This season was supposed to end with joy. Unfortunately, fate would have it that the former mayor, Jean-Pierre Cabanel, also a member of the choir, left us. The choristers paid him a final tribute in the Salviac church, and a minute of silence was observed during the assembly.
