On New Year’s Day, Matt was walking his dog Dublin in Crestwood Park in Fort Worth.
However, the ride that started peacefully quickly turned into a rescue mission…
Strange noises
Matt heard faint moaning coming from a trash can in the park. When he looked inside, he was horrified to find eight tiny abandoned puppies. The poor doggies had been “thrown” in the trash, without food or water, or any source of heat. Their lives were in serious danger.
Alone in the park, Matt carefully brought them home one by one, determined to save them all. Thanks to her quick thinking and compassion, the puppies are now safe and receiving the medical care they need. The Humane Society of North Texas shelter took over to care for the pooches.
An upcoming adoption
If all goes well, the puppies will be ready for adoption in a week. In a post, rescuers from the Humane Society of North Texas expressed their gratitude for Matt and his work for the animal cause.
They said he volunteered at their shelter for 1,300 hours over the past year. On top of that, Matt has generously offered to match every donation (up to $1,300) – one dollar for every hour spent helping animals in need. We applaud Matt’s dedication and hope the puppies find a warm, loving home soon!
