With the fires ravaging it, the city of Los Angeles (California) has been transformed into a landscape of desolation. Even the mythical palm trees that frame the avenues have gone up in smoke.
Seen from space, Los Angeles (California) is a city decimated by flames. The second largest city in the United States is surrounded by several simultaneous fires. The largest of the fires, that of Palisades, goes from the hills to the sea, along the road between Malibu and Los Angeles: the legendary Pacific Highway.
The buildings with sea views have disappeared. The posh villas overlooking the beach were obliterated by the force of the flames. Only one tree survived, but the heavenly scenery was decimated.
A little further east, the famous Sunset Boulevard is unrecognizable. Among the buildings ravaged by fire, there is a Starbucks café of which only the arches survived. A little further on, the buildings around a gas station have collapsed.
Last night, a new fire broke out in the Hollywood Hills, right in front of the iconic letters.
