The Best Pastry Chef ended this Thursday, January 9, 2025 on M6, after 14 weeks of competition at Château d’Ormesson. After Benjamin’s departure last week, Tsiory, José and Timothée were the three finalists for this 13th season. For the creative test, they had to reproduce their dearest wish on a cake with an edible decoration worthy of a grand finale, all in three hours. “For the last creative test of the season, show us everything you learned throughout the competition”advised Mercotte. Timothée has set out to obtain his baccalaureate which he will pass in a few months, Tsiory dreams of opening his own tea room while José has bet on a world tour of pastry.

At the end of the technical challenge, they knew that there would only be two left to compete for the last part of this final and therefore that one of them would be eliminated. And for the technical test, Cyril Lignac and Mercotte did not spare the candidates by inviting Nina Métayer, the first woman to obtain the title of best pastry chef in the world. She cooked her “queen galette” at the same time as the finalists, combining know-how, finesse and mastery of time. José, who missed his tile, ended up throwing in the towel. “I have a pancake, period. I won’t go any further”got annoyed the Bretoninterviewed by Laëtitia Milot. Timothée won his 9th technical event and was therefore immediately qualified for the rest of the final. The jury then consulted before deciding that Tsiory had been better than José this week. The oldest was therefore eliminated from the adventure and did not compete in the last event, making it possible to establish the big winner of this 13th season.

Pierre Hermé, crowned best pastry chef in the world in 2016, was present to judge the two finalists who had to prepare their signature cake. “In addition to Cyril, Mercotte and Pierre Hermé, thirty people will come and taste your pastries at the end of the final. And they will vote for their favorite signature cake. Their vote will therefore count for the final deliberation”warned Laëtitia Milot. Tsiory represented its Malagasy origins with a creamy baobab powder, just like its almond praline. As for Timothée, he opted for a vanilla, raspberry cake and its secret ingredient, Espelette pepper which had already brought him luck during the adventure since his creation had been sold in the Lenôtre boutiques. Their twelve friends from the season returned to the tent to encourage them and Romain and Benjamin even gave them a helping hand. After tasting by the jury but also by the public, it was Timothée who was unanimously crowned the big winner of this season. At only 17 years old, the youngest of the season will have the chance to see his own recipe book published, which will complete the collection of Best pastry chef !
