Book. Is Donald Trump an agent of the Russians? Independent journalist Régis Genté asks the question in a lively and documented story that reads like an adventure novel. Thanks to an in-depth investigation, the work traces forty years of sulfurous relations between the American president and the Soviet Union, then Russia. A constant and not always very clear relationship that the author describes as a form of collaboration as the New York real estate developer has long frequented diplomats, spies, mafiosi and Russian oligarchs.
Nearly fifty members of the “Red mafia” have established direct or indirect relationships with Donald Trump, explains Régis Genté. However, these red mafiosi never stopped cooperating with Soviet and then Russian services – even after leaving the USSR. “The former Soviet Union is such that, behind every red mafioso, every oligarch, every business matchmaker, there is a Chekist [membre des services] »describes Régis Genté. Among Donald Trump’s unsavory associates is notably the mafia boss Vyacheslav Ivankov, known as “Iapontchik” (“the little Japanese”), who, until 2004, had his HQ in Trump Tower in New York.
Failing to have been recruited, the 47e President of the United States was approached by the Soviet and then Russian spy services, who “cultured” for a good forty years, providing services and supporting him, that’s a certainty. A fact confirmed by several officials of the American intelligence community met by the author.
Dirty money
Betting on Russia proved lucrative for Donald Trump: between 2000 and 2016, the businessman, despite several bankruptcies, received several loans from Deutsche Bank and its partner, VTB, Russia’s second largest bank. Closely linked to Russian services, this bank headed by Andreï Kostine, a former KGB officer close to Russian President Vladimir Putin, channeled dirty money to Donald Trump through Deutsche Bank. Régis Genté relies in particular on the investigation led by the American special prosecutor Robert Mueller into suspicions of interference by the Kremlin in the electoral campaign for the 2016 presidential election, ultimately won by Donald Trump.
