High tension hung in the air during the match between Tottenham and Liverpool, who faced each other in the first leg of the League Cup semi-finals.
Both teams took the field with the intention of hurting the opposition, but just six minutes after kick-off an incident occurred that caused concern among fans and players.
The ball was in Tottenham’s control, and the team prepared to take a corner in hopes of threatening Liverpool’s goal. However, at that moment, Rodrigo Bentancur tried to head the ball, but misjudged his timing.
The midfielder fell to the ground with his arms outstretched, remaining completely still for several moments while the other players continued the match, oblivious to the situation.

When Bentancur failed to respond to the stimuli, the team’s medical staff rushed to his side in an attempt to revive him, all as the entire stadium looked on in shock.
Tottenham medical staff attended to him and after stabilizing his condition, he was taken off on a stretcher.
In slow motion, it became clearer that Bentancur was unable to use his hands to break his fall and hit his head on the ground.
