A lesser evil. Sent off during the late La Liga match last Friday at Mestalla against Valencia FC after his altercation with goalkeeper Dimitrievski, Brazilian striker Vinicius was at risk. Provoked by Valencia goalkeeper Dimitrievski, he lost his temper and was guilty of a bad gesture. During the match, the player was once again the victim of racist insults by the Valencian public. Real Madrid finally won (1-2) outnumbered. Meeting this Tuesday, the Competition Committee of the Spanish federation decided to impose a two-match suspension on the Auriverde international.
The Merengue’s Brazilian star escaped a heavier sanction due to the referee’s report which did not classify the Merengue’s reaction as aggression. He has his suspension matches in La Liga against Las Palmas (13th) and bottom Valladolid but he will therefore be able to participate in the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup this Thursday against Mallorca in Saudi Arabia.
