A gathering on Place des Terreaux
The Lyon ultra-left met with its supporters on Place des Terreaux at the start of the evening to “celebrate” the death of the former far-right leader. Fireworks were set off and slogans were chanted like “youth fuck the National Front”.
The procession left this gathering place around 8 p.m. to set off on a wild stroll towards Old Lyon, passing through Place Satonay and Fontaine Burdeau. Around 600 people demonstrated, according to the prefecture.
Several tags were written on the walls as the demonstrators passed by. The demonstrators then returned to Place des Terreaux around 8:45 p.m. before dispersing.
