Two firefighters were injured during a fire in Sauvian as well as the tenant of an apartment in a building located on Allées Jorge Semprun. Some cannot be relocated.
During the night of January 8, around 3:30 a.m., the Hérault firefighters intervened for a fire in an R + 2 collective dwelling, allée Jorge Semprun in Sauvian. The fire started in an apartment on 1is floor of a two-story building. The occupant of this accommodation, in panic, escaped the blaze by jumping from the balcony. She injured her upper and lower limbs during her fall and was treated by firefighters then evacuated to the Béziers hospital center. Seven other people, who were staying in neighboring apartments, were also treated and evacuated to the Béziers hospital center for additional examinations after inhaling smoke.
An explosion
During the attack on the fire by firefighters from numerous barracks in Biterrois, an oxygen bottle which was in the burning apartment exploded. Two Sérignan firefighters who were fighting the fire were injured. Quickly taken care of by their colleagues, they were evacuated to the Béziers hospital center. Their state of health does not present any major concerns but requires additional care and a period of observation. The head of the center of Sérignan, Captain Stéphan Guniel and the departmental director, General Florès, went to their bedside at the Béziers hospital.
70 firefighters mobilized
At the scene of the incident, some 70 firefighters extinguished the fire which was contained in the damaged apartment.
