The ChatGPT conversational robot would have been used to plan the explosion of Tesla’s Cybertruck in front of Donald Trump’s building in Las Vegas on 1^is January.

According to Las Vegas police, the alleged perpetrator of the attack, soldier Matthew Livelsberger, used artificial intelligence to learn about the flammable materials used in his attack, mainly fireworks cartridges.

Sheriff Kevin McMahill said Tuesday that the person who died in the electric car outside the Trump International Hotel had consulted the chatbot ChatGPT to plan the explosion. He researched explosive targets, ballistics and Arizona’s fireworks laws, CNN reports.

Although the investigation is not complete, police believe that the perpetrator of the attack, a soldier based in Germany on leave, committed suicide shortly before the explosion. This also left seven people lightly injured.

According to McMahill, this use of generative artificial intelligence to carry out an attack is a first on American soil.

The suspect was suffering from post-traumatic shock when he planned his attack, the head of the FBI investigation, Spencer Evans, revealed on Friday.

Investigators believe that the 37-year-old soldier had premeditated his action. Examination of his cell phone revealed a “six-page manifesto” whose political or ideological content was not revealed.
