“We need a lot of work to get the ankle to respond correctly »
Author of a very good start to the season with two victories in two races in Levi then Gurgl, Clément Noël intends to return to his best level after more than two weeks of break from the Slalom World Cup. To get back into rhythm, the French team settled down at Folgaria at the beginning of January before heading this week to the Italian resort of Madonna di Campiglio. “It happened as it happened, it’s still not perfect,” Clément Noël confided with a touch of dissatisfaction as he approached returning to competition. “We need a lot of work to get the ankle to respond correctly. I think it will get better and better, anyway, it’s an injury that requires quite a long healing period. So, obviously, it’s not perfect in two weeks of rest. But I think that if I managed to run at Alta Badia with a decent level, it’s still a good sign for the month of January. »
The skier from Val d’Isère is not getting ahead of himself and remains measured: “It’s certain that I won’t have a lot of training runs in my legs. » But on the other hand he remains positive in view of the rest of the season with “a big month of January which will be intense”: “I will not be in the best mood, but I think it can do it. I can manage the pain with a well-strapped ankle. We’ll see how it goes,” with the ambition of perhaps returning to the podium this Wednesday evening.
