Pamela Anderson has revealed that she was violently attacked on a plane by a man who mistook her for a singer from the group The Chicks.
At the microphone of the podcast “Happy Sad Confused”, Pamela Anderson confided that she was physically attacked on board a plane, after being mistaken for a singer of the country group The Chicks (formerly Dixie Chicks), reports CNews.
“There was this time I was on a plane and this guy comes up to me and says, ‘Do you know what this country has done for you?’ And I was like, ‘My God, what have I done again?says the 57-year-old actress.
Once seated, Pamela Anderson noticed that the man continued to stare at her intensely every time she met his gaze, until he attempted to hit her. “The flight attendant had to handcuff him to his seat because he was trying to attack me. And it turns out he mistook me for one of the Dixie singers Chicks”she continues.
“I almost got killed because of this story”she adds. She also says that the incident made her anxious about flying for a while.
Linked to the 2003 controversy?
If Pamela Anderson did not specify the date of this incident, it could be linked to the controversy of 2003, when one of the singers of the Dixie Chicks, Natalie Maines, criticized President George W. Bush and the military intervention in Iraq during a concert in London.
These comments provoked a wave of negative reactions in the United States, ranging from boycotts of their albums by certain radio stations to death threats against the members of the group.
In 2020, the Dixie Chicks officially changed their name to The Chicks, to distance themselves from the negative connotations associated with their former name.
