A general brawl broke out on Sunday January 5 during an ice hockey match between Cergy-Pontoise and Grenoble in the U20 Espoirs League.
The match ended in scandalous fashion. The U20 Espoirs League meeting between Cergy-Pontoise and Grenoble was tarnished by a general brawl at Aren’Ice, accompanied by the physical assault of a referee.
As the match drew to a close, several players gathered together to fight. The referees intervened to separate the players. However, as the players were heading towards the locker room, a Val-d’Oise player approached and physically attacked the referee, before being overpowered.
This Monday, the French Federation reacted to the incident, declaring: “The commission for infractions of the rules of the game judged that an investigation was necessary and therefore transmitted the matter to the disciplinary commission of first instance, as indicate the regulations of the FFHG. » Concerning the offending player, “it is therefore prohibited to participate in any sporting event organized or authorized by the FFHG, pending notification of the decision of the disciplinary body which will intervene after the investigation and hearing of the parties concerned in this matter. »
