Everything you need to know about iOS 18.3

The next big update to our iPhone operating system should come in January. But if you have high expectations, you have to tame them. Compared to the two previous decimal updates, the third will not bring us anything as fundamental.

Apple released the first beta version of iOS 18.3 in mid-December, more precisely on Monday 12/16. But if we look at how it released iOS 17.3, we get a clear idea of when we can actually look forward to the next big update.

Version iOS 17.3

  • 1 beta: December 13, 2023
  • 2 beta: January 3, 2024
  • 3 beta: January 9, 2024
  • Release Candidate (RC): January 17, 2024
  • Public release: January 22, 2024
  • When will iOS 18.3 be released

It follows that Apple has pushed back the release of iOS 18.3 by three days. We must therefore expect the second beta today, the third in a week on Monday January 13, the RC version could be released again on Monday January 20 and the advanced system intended for the general public could be Applem released again on Monday January 27, 2025.

What’s new in iOS 18.3?

iOS 18.1 and iOS 18.2 were significant updates. It first arrived on Apple iPhones Intelligence, in the second its possibilities expanded. But the news was also present for those who own older iPhones or live in the EU. iOS 18.3 is a much smaller version. The update mainly focuses on bug fixes and performance improvements and does not include any of Apple’s new AI features. But it’s true that repairs are often more beneficial than new options that you may not even use. iOS 18.3 should therefore bring the following elements:

  • Support for robot vacuums in the Home app
  • Improved icon for Image Playground
  • Bug fixes for the Writing Tools API and Genmoji
  • Ability to log in to the Feedback app using Face ID or Touch ID
  • The Camera Controls menu icon on the Accessibility page in Settings now supports Dark Mode.

You can only expect more from iOS 18.4. The first beta version of the system could be made available to developers by the end of January. A sharp version could then be released in March or April, with the introduction of the 4th generation iPhone SE (or actually the iPhone 16E) and the entry Apple Intelligence for the EU State, it that is to say also for us.
